The first immersion for the 2024 cohort of the Mercy Integral Ecology Emerging Leaders Fellowship has recently taken place in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Central West New South Wales.

During this time, participants engaged with leaders of bioregional projects designed to heal communities and their landscapes for a thriving future. They visited many sites of regenerative design, including the Coal Loader (Waverton), Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative (Katoomba) and disaster adaptation project “Slow the Flow” (Eugowra).

Throughout this immersion were many opportunities for prayer, reflection and spirituality, including with Wiradyuri Elder Aunty Nyree Reynolds at a significant place for Wiradyuri peoples’ Songlines in Blayney NSW, now under threat by gold mines in the region.

Two other immersions will come later this year, along with a monthly program of mentoring, reading and reflecting together online. We congratulate the 13 fellows for being willing to take part in this process of deep reflection, learning and transformation during 2024:
