AUSTRALIA DAY AWARD

We congratulate Sr. Kath Tierney on her reception of the Australia Day Honour, Officer of the Order of Australia (OA).

The Government website page It’s An Honour – Australia celebrating Australians states that: Honours help define, encourage and reinforce national aspirations, ideals and standards by identifying role models. We give honours to recognise, celebrate and say thank you to those who make a difference, those who achieve their best and those who serve others.

The citation states:

OFFICER (AO) IN THE GENERAL DIVISION OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA – Sister Kathleen Mary TIERNEY – For distinguished service to the community through roles with health, education, aged care, and social welfare organisations, and to the Catholic Church in Australia.
