Victorian Country School Looking for Solidarity OpportunityFebruary 24, 2004
Catholic College Wodonga, a Mercy-affiliated school located on the Victorian / NSW border has just launched the Marist Brothers youth ministry program called Remar. Part of the program requires students (Year 11) to undertake a 7 to 10 day solidarity experience. Remar groups in other schools have made links with schools in places such as Bourke NSW and Wilcannia – Forbes NSW and have developed a significant relationship over a period of time. The Remar students have undertaken service in the community from practical building tasks through to helping in the classrooms of local schools and being positive role models.
Our school is looking to build such a partnership. The main criteria for our partner school would be:
- within 600 – 800 km proximity (7 – 8 hr drive) to Wodonga,
- a smaller school that would benefit from the services of 10 – 12 Year 11 students in a both practical and Christian role model capacity
- a community that will provide an opportunity for our students to be extended in all areas of their lives.
We are planning for this to take place around September, 2005.
If you can help us in our search for the right partner, please contact Rob Horner (Remar Coordinator) at Catholic College, Wodonga – ph. 02 6059 1222 or email email@example.com
