Towards a Thriving, Just, Sustainable World
Did you know that more than 50% of the world’s population is under 25 years of age? This is the generation that is coming of age at one of the most critical moments in history.
Generation Waking Up (GenUp) is a global initiative whose purpose is to ignite a generation of young people to bring forth a thriving, just, sustainable world. GenUp provides young people with the opportunity to make a positive contribution at their schools, amongst their peers, and in their communities.
In December 2014 and February 2015 some students from Sacred Heart College, Geelong participated in facilitator training in Generation Waking Up. This prepares them to facilitate an hour long session in any school interested in a thriving sustainable and socially just world. The presentation works best with Yr. 9’s and up.
The program uses DVD clips, facilitator leadership and experiential activities to share the heart of its purpose which is “To ignite a generation of young people to bring forth a thriving, just, sustainable world”
As a trainer I am delighted at the way this message clicks when young people teach young people what is possible for them to make a contribution and I was delighted to work with the Geelong students.
