Singleton Steps Back In Time

The New Empire Ballroom Ragtime Dance Orchestra playing in the Sisters of Mercy Convent Chapel.

Last month people gathered in the Sisters of Mercy Chapel in Singleton, New South Wales to take an enjoyable step back in time for a wonderful performance by “The New Empire Ballroom Ragtime Dance Orchestra”.

This concert kicked off the 2017 Fine Music Concert Series and was the first of four concerts being organised by Sacred Spaces Singleton.

Guests who came along to hear the wonderful 1890s to 1920s music were encouraged to dress in the style of the day and over a third of the audience certainly did that!

Cynthia Mulholland (right), Events & Marketing Co-ordinator at Sacred Spaces welcomes visitors from the Central Coast to the concert.

During the interval of the concert, our guests enjoyed a delicious home-baked afternoon tea and thanks to our volunteers, they also enjoy a refreshing cup of tea, in true Mercy tradition.

After the short break, the music continued until everyone, including the orchestra, was ready for a rest.  Everyone who attended, including the Orchestra, gave great feedback and expressed a desire to return.
