Singleton congregation celebrates Catherine
Joyful song and celebration filled the Sacred Heart Cathedral Hamilton (NSW) on November 11, when Mercy associates, friends and supporters of the Singleton Sisters of Mercy joined them to remember and give thanks for the life of Catherine McAuley and to pray for her canonisation.
Sister Faith Jones, Leader of the Congregation, welcomed all with a brief comment on the wonderful life and influence of the foundress and, in acknowledgement of the day and time, (Remembrance Day) invited all to reflect in silence on those who have given their lives in defence of our country.
In his homily Bishop Michael Malone, the main celebrant, spoke with feeling of Catherine’s life and work.
Following the Eucharist the sisters welcomed the bishop, clergy and associates to join them at lunch.
