Rockhampton Royal Commission concludes
After seven days of testimony the Royal Commission’s public hearing into St Joseph’s Orphanage Neerkol has concluded. The hearing inquired into the experiences of a number of men and women who were residents at the orphanage between 1940 and 1975.
The commission heard responses of the Sisters of Mercy, the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton and the State Government about complaints of child sexual abuse which took place at the orphanage.
