Recognition for Mercy Health focus on diversity
Mercy Health’s position as an Australian leader in driving change for a more equitable workplace has been further reinforced after it was announced as the Diversity and Inclusion Champion in the Diversity@Work Awards.
Mercy Health is a leading care provider specialising in women’s health, acute and sub-acute hospitals, palliative care, mental health, early parenting, home and community care and aged care services.
Mercy Health provides an inclusive culture and flexible workplace initiatives where individual differences and needs are respected. Almost 51 per cent of Mercy Health’s 4,500 staff access flexible work arrangements, delivering benefits to the individual and the organisation.
As part of Mercy Health’s retention strategy and commitment to valuing diversity, a range of policies, practices and programmes have been introduced to balance individual career development with the demands of life (see attachment for further details).
The ‘Diversity and Inclusion Champion – Large Organisation’ award was presented at the Diversity@Work gala dinner. This further confirms the merits of Mercy Health’s ‘Employer of Choice for Women’ citation for 2008 and 2009, and the ‘Leading CEO for the Advancement of Women’ award presented to Mercy Health CEO, John Ballard in 2008.
“This award recognises the hard work and commitment of Mercy Health’s people to place ‘Care first’ as their priority”, Mr Ballard said.
“We care for almost half a million people each year who put their trust in us. We can only do this by actively supporting our carers.”
