Queen’s Birthday Honours for five Sisters of Mercy


Five Sisters of Mercy were recognised for their commitment and service to the community in the 2007 Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Congratulations to Sisters Eileen Ann Daffy AO (Melbourne), Regis Mary Dunne AO (Brisbane), Ailsa Mackinnon AM (Parramatta), Dawn Goodwin AM (Bathurst) and Mary Michael Fitzgerald OAM (Wilcannia-Forbes).



Sister Eileen Ann DAFFY (Melbourne) –
Officer of the Order of Australia (A0) for service to education through leadership and development roles in Catholic secondary schools in Australia and Pakistan, and to the community through Caritas Pakistan.


 


Sister Regis Mary DUNNE (Brisbane) – Officer of the Order of Australia (A0) for service to medicine, particularly through promotion and support of bioethics in medical research, and as a researcher in the field of genetics.


 



Sister Ailsa Mary MACKINNON (Parramatta) – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to the community through leadership roles in the Catholic education sector, to industrial and employment relations, and to the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta.


 


Sister Dawn Theresa GOODWIN (Bathurst) – Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to education, particularly through contributions to tertiary, adult and community education, to the professional development of people working with youth, and to the Catholic Church in Australia.


 


Sister Mary Michael FITZGERALD (Wilcannia-Forbes) – Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to education as a music teacher, particularly piano, violin and singing, and to the community of Parkes and the surrounding region.
