Much Needed Funds Raised at the Mercy Health Foundation Ball

Maureen Sexton RSM, Institute Councillor, leads those gathered in the offering of grace.

Over 400 guests came together to support the annual Mercy Health Foundation Ball that took place in Melbourne on Friday, 31 May.  The purpose of the Ball was to raise significant awareness and funds for Mercy Perinatal.

Sisters Maureen Sexton RSM and Elizabeth Moloney RSM, represented the Institute Leadership Team. Sr Maureen led those gathered in the offering of grace and Sr Elizabeth fulfilled the role of ‘table captain’. All gathered were inspired by the passion of Prof Sue Walker AO, as she outlined the advances in perinatal medicine at Mercy Health.

Mercy Perinatal strives to keep little hearts beating for the first 300 days after conception.  Developmentally these first nine months are arguably the most important months of a persons life.

Support from the guests and community has helped raise over $150,000 to support Mercy Perinatal’s commitment in clinical care, education and research to improve the health of mothers and babies now and into the future.

A special thank you was expressed to all the sponsors; Professors Sue Walker AO and Stephen Tong, co-directors of Mercy Perinatal; Master of Ceremonies, Mr Michael Pope; Entertainer, Matt Hollywood; and all the volunteers who helped create a special and magical event.

The contribution of all attendees is greatly appreciated.  Together, we can help keep little hearts beating.
