‘MERCY-ING’ TO CONTINUE DAILY INSPIRATION AND REFLECTION IN 2017
Although the Year of Mercy has drawn to a close, a new Mercy-ing App has been developed for 2017 to enable people to continue with daily inspiration and reflection to support the movement of contemplation and action in the everyday.
The original App, prepared for the Year of Mercy is now an integral part of the lives of thousands of people across the globe. Users have noted that the App has provided support for reflection in their personal prayer life as well as being a great resource for using in workplaces such as in the classroom with students and with staff and colleagues when they gather. One user noted “I have really looked forward every day to using the App. It has challenged me to Mercy mindfulness as well as Mercy action” while another stated “I find it a great focus to begin each day. It puts me in a Mercy-mind”.
Pope Francis in his apostolic letter to close the Jubilee Year of Mercy notes that as this special time of celebration comes to a close the Door of Mercy of our heart continues to remain wide open and the Mercy-ing App will assist in doing just that.
Starting on December 1st the App will launch a new year of monthly themes which in this calendar year will reflect on twelve Mercy values including values such as hospitality, justice, compassion and courage, to name a few. In response to user requests the updated version will have even more daily content and questions for reflection connecting these themes with contemporary issues and areas of focus for the international Mercy community.
Based on feedback from users the App has some new features including an interactive function where users can provide insights, thoughts, suggestions or ideas via a feedback section on the menu screen. While the inbuilt timer still includes the options for a variety of time settings, the new version of the App also includes the capacity to remove the timer by selecting the “none” option.
To install the updated features and access new content current users just need to complete an update through their device.
New users can download the App free of charge from:
- Download on the App Store
- Get it on Google Play
