Mercy Connect – Together We Grow Safely
Mercy Connect launched their inaugural ‘Together We Grow Safely’ initiative at their Albury location on Wednesday 26 February.
The event was a way to raise awareness of Work, Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the workplace through fun and interactive learning activities.
Mercy Connect welcomed a range of external organisations and community members to participate and interact with the attendees. Most of these organsiations and community members provide their training services throughout the year so the staff of Mercy Connect continue to develop their skills and knowledge.
Mercy Connect’s Chief Executive Officer, Trent Dean, said “This is an opportunity for our staff and participants in Albury to come together and develop their skills and knowledge around Work, Health and Safety. This is such an important area of the organisation and it is vital that we offer a way of learning through a fun and interactive way.
The initiative was created by Jeanie Keeton, People and Culture Manager / WHS Manager, together with the Work, Health and Safety Committee, who wanted to inspire, engage and educate staff and participants to be Work, Health and Safety minded in the workplace at all times.
The day was well attended with over 100 staff and participants in attendance. They were able to get involved in the different interactive activities on offer, including: Fire Simulation Training; High Needs Manual Handling; Nutrition and Swallowing; First Aid; Infection Control; Blood Pressure Testing and Diabetes Awareness; Oral Health Care and Sunscreen Station; and collect important information about their well-being from Beyond Blue and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
It is hoped that all attendees enjoyed the interactive experience and went home with a better understanding of the different Work, Health, Safety and Wellbeing sectors relating to Disability and the workplace.
