In the December issue of ‘just Mercy’ Mercy Works told of the devastating drought conditions impacting upon Papua New Guinea and seriously affecting more than 2.4 million people. These extraordinary conditions required extraordinary support. Mercy Works was asked to provide relief and assistance and launched an appeal, Let Mercy Rain. The aim of the Appeal was to raise $100,000 to give immediate help.

With the weather conditions expected to last until at least March 2016 emergency relief money was needed as soon as possible. The aim of the extraordinary appeal was to enable Mercy Works to provide:
•    medicine to treat the elderly and young
•    safe drinking water for remote regions
•    fuel to distribute the water

With the drought now over, Mercy Works wishes to acknowledge the many who so generously responded to that appeal in December and over the following months. In the following statement Executive Director Ailsa Mackinnon rsm offers the thanks of all at Mercy Works for the assistance given and shares the results of the appeal.  Read the statement HERE
