Lecture series: The MISSION has a CHURCH
The Australian Mission Network is providing audiences in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with the opportunity to hear from visiting lecturer and author, Father Stephen Bevans SVD. The lecture series, “The MISSION has a CHURCH – responding to God’s call in today’s world”, will be offered between March 26 and April 30.
Father Bevans is a Professor of Mission and Culture at the Catholic Theological Union, Chicago, USA. His teaching and research probe issues in faith and culture, of mission theology (particularly its trinitarian roots), and in ecclesiology and ministry.
He has authored Models of Contextual Theology, Constants in Context: A Theology of Mission for Today (with Roger Schoeder SVD) and Evangelisation and Human Freedom (with Jeffrey Gros SSC).
Currently, he is Visiting Professor of Theology at Yarra Theological Union, Melbourne.
Two sessions will be held in Brisbane, on March 26: at Holy Spirit Care Services, Beams Road, Carseldine, between 3:30pm and 4:30pm and then at the Francis Rush Centre, Charlotte Street, Brisbane, from 7:30pm-9:30pm.
One lecture will be held in Sydney, on April 2, at the Catholic Institute of Sydney, Albert Road, Strathfield, from 7:00-9:00pm.
Two sessions will be held later, in Melbourne: on April 29 at Sacred Heart Church, Bell Street, Preston, from 7:00-9:00pm and on April 30 at Yarra Theological Union, Albion Road, Box Hill, from 9:30am-12:30pm.
