ISMAPNG welcomes Pope Francis I

The Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG) joins with people around the world in welcoming the election of Pope Francis I.

He brings a wide range of pastoral experiences to his new leadership role at a time when the church, indeed all of society, faces so many challenges. To create a just and compassionate society requires all people of goodwill to work together and to support each other, placing their resources and expertise at the service of all people in our global community.

Let us pray for our Pope, that his leadership will contribute to the shaping of this new heaven and new earth, where right-relationships enable every woman, man and child to experience God’s love and respond to others with compassion, justice and love.
