2009 is the sesquicentenary year of the Goulburn Sisters of Mercy. Following the main celebrations in Goulburn from October 23-25, the congregation will hold a novena of prayer for deceased sisters from November 11-20. Shirley Garland RSM (Goulburn) outlines what will be happening.
2009 is the sesquicentenary year of the Goulburn Sisters of Mercy. Following the main functions in Goulburn on October 23, 24 and 25, we will hold a novena of prayer for our deceased sisters from November 11 to 20.
Our deceased sisters are buried in 25 cemeteries, and we hope to have prayer in each of the cemeteries on one day during the novena. Sisters from the other Mercy Congregations who live in the various places are cordially invited to join us in prayer. The outline below lists the dates and times of all the prayer services, and you are welcome to come to the prayer.
We have a prayer service done out in booklet form and this will be available to all who attend.
All the Goulburn Sisters will have their own copy of the booklet, and so the whole of the Goulburn Congregation will pray each day, in spirit with those who are gathered at the graveside.
The sisters who will be leading the prayers at each cemetery are listed on the outline and they can be contacted through the Goulburn Congregation Office on (02) 6262 9290.
