Damascus Students Making A Difference In The Community

Members of the Damascus College community with care packages for frontline workers in the pandemic.

Students at Damascus College, Ballarat, have been participating in some amazing projects in and around the community.

The students, who are part of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL), have been making care packages to thank ‘Frontline’ workers during the pandemic, have been sending books to remote schools in Alice Springs, offering elderly neighbours gardening services and baked goods, providing sporting and gardening activities to schools and football clubs to encourage primary aged students to get moving, and the gathering of donations for the Shower Bus.

An entry on the College’s facebook page summed up the great work being undertaken by the students –

Wow, it really has been a busy term! The way in which our students conduct themselves when in the community is a true testament to the dedicated and compassionate young people that they are. Well done to the students and staff involved in these wonderful community engagement activities – you are making a difference!
