Catholic Healthcare award for Wilcannia-Forbes Sister

Wilcannia-Forbes Sister of Mercy Nance Cale was honoured last week with Catholic Healthcare’s Gold Dove Staff Award for exceptional care and service in her role as Spiritual and Pastoral Care Co-ordinator at Stella Maris Aged Care Facility in Cronulla, NSW.

The award was presented on October 4 during Catholic Healthcare’s annual dinner at Mary MacKillop Place Auditorium in North Sydney.

Sister Nance was nominated for the award by staff and residents of Stella Maris.

As well as supporting residents, staff and families – particularly when the spirit is weakening or the heart is heavy – over the past 15 months Sister Nance has introduced a number of new initiatives to support the spiritual needs of people at Stella Maris.

In addition to daily Mass, ecumenical services, funeral services, Peace Day and Anzac Day services are held in the community’s chapel. Anniversary services are also held in the chapel for families of residents who have died.

Always ready with a smile and infectious laughter, Sister Nance shows great warmth and compassion to all, and is a constant companion in supporting residents, staff and the whole community through life’s changes and challenges.

Established in 1987, Stella Maris is owned by the Sisters of Mercy, Parramatta and managed by Catholic Healthcare. Catholic Healthcare began in 1994 and provides a diverse range of aged, community and healthcare services across metropolitan and regional NSW.

Congratulations Nance!
