In early August, Mercy Works was presented with a cheque from Catherine McAuley College, in Westmead (Sydney), at their school assembly.

Ryan and Coolock Houses at CMC held bake sales and a Mother’s Day stall to achieve their target of $3,000 to fully fund the Mercy Works Sensory Garden Project, at the Little Children’s Learning Place in Alice Springs. Kingsley Edwards, Donor Development Manager at Mercy Works, received the cheque from the Ryan House leaders.

“It was a remarkable effort and a credit to the commitment of the leaders and students of both Houses,” said Kingsley.

Whilst at the assembly, Kingsley updated the College on the completion of the pre-school building and renovation project in the Maliana Diocese of Timor-Leste, which was supported by the school’s fundraising conducted in 2017.

Mercy Day this year will again see the school raise money for Timor-Leste to contribute to the next stage of that project which involves supporting teachers in seven pre-schools in the Diocese.

“Mercy Works is very grateful to the school community at Catherine McAuley College for its dedication in supporting these early childhood learning projects,” Kingsley continued. “They will make such a difference to the lives of young children in Timor-Leste and Alice Springs.”

Mercy Works moved its office from the McAuley Centre at Lewisham to the Convent of Mercy at Parramatta.  The staff at Mercy Works are excited to be working in these new surroundings as they embark on a new chapter in the Mercy Works’ story.
