Mercy Spirituality Centre, Toronto
The Sisters of Mercy (Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea) invite you to share in the spirit of reflection which was encouraged by the vision of their founder Catherine McAuley, who wrote, “we have one solid comfort amidst all this little tripping about: our hearts can always be in the same place, centred in God – for whom alone we go forward – or stay back” (letter to Sr. M de Sales White December 20, 1840)
Located at 26 Renwick Street, Toronto NSW the Centre is 27 km south of Newcastle, 132 km north of Sydney and approximately 50 minute drive from Newcastle airport. The house has 7 en-suite bedrooms, a meeting room, dining room, two lounge areas and enclosed verandahs over-looking the beautiful lake. The spacious garden adds to the reflective space of this spirituality centre. Three small self-catering units are available for times of personal retreat.
In developing this program for 2017 we have been mindful of many needs and challenges within our earth community. At the same time we are encouraged by the naming of the UN international year as that of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Participation in other cultures offers the possibility of knowing ourselves in relation to such diversity.
We welcome people of all traditions to reflect on their own story, to articulate a pilgrim identity as “soul tourist” and be enlivened in their personal spiritual journey. Our hope is that you will find something to support your journey through this program.
